Sam Schaffhauser & Smoking Tinseltown win at 2016 All American Quarter Horse Congress

“A decade had passed since Sam Schaffhauser last competed at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. After relocating to Tennessee this past June, Schaffhauser returned to capture the Novice Horse Open Level 1 championship on Smoking Tinseltown, owned by David Silva, of Pilot Point, Texas. “He is a nice horse that we have just been taking it a little slower because he’s been a little immature. So, I just took him and showed him a few times this year in some novice horse stuff to get him more seasoned. He was real good for me at the Congress, so that was his last show for the year. We are planning on getting him ready for some derbies next year since he is only four,” Schaffhauser said. “I really appreciate the Silvas letting me keep riding and showing him.” In addition to their win in the Level 1, Schaffhauser and Smoking Tinseltown also tied for fourth in the Level 2 to bring their total earnings to $730. Hall of Famer Mike Flarida took home the Novice Horse Open Level 1 Reserve championship on Xtra Playful Chic, owned by Patrice Schreiber. ”
